How to Draw Letter B in Bubble Letters
Welcome to our Bubble Letter Alphabet series where you'll easily learn how to create bubble letters one letter at a time. Today's lesson is a B in bold bubble letters.
In this beginner-friendly lesson, I'll show you to draw a "b" that you can boldly show others how to draw. Before long you'll be able to draw the entire bubble alphabet A-Z from memory.
I've used bubble lettering to make over 75-100 banners for birthdays or events (I wish I'd kept count). It's my favorite style of lettering for this purpose and I think that will be true for you too! The best part is, with practice, you can create these showy large banners in a short amount of time! Bravo!
Fun Bubble Lettering for Kids: Easy Bubble Letter B
The letter B is a fun letter for children to learn to write- a straight line down and two sideways bumps. B reminds me of creating birthday banners. Every family celebration can use a cheerful 'Happy Birthday' sign, and big bubble letters made it extra cheerful. It's a cinch to customize with a name, too.
You can make posters, birthday banners, birthday cards, or just doodle on the side of your notepaper- and the bubble lettering you are learning will bump them up to the next level. Your message will bring people joy!
Supplies for the Bubble Letter B Tutorial
You don’t need much to bring these cute bubble letters to life!
One things I really appreciate about learning bubble letters is that you probably have all the supplies on hand.
- Drawing paper
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Black permanent marker (optional)
- Colored pencils, crayons, or markers (optional)
- Ruler (optional)
Equipment-
- Clip board (optional)- to use under paper if desired
A Bubble Letter A Step by Step
- Draw a light pencil line across the paper where you would like the bubble letters to “sit” on the page. This will be used as an approximate bottom edge of the letters. Draw lightly so you can erase easily later. Leave enough space above the line to make the letter as tall as you want it to be. The letter will “bubble” below the line some too. - Lightly draw a simple capital letter B as tall and wide as you want. With some space between, draw a lowercase letter b. This is your framework, like a skeleton for what comes next. Let’s try making both into bubble letters!
- This step is fun. Start by putting your pencil outside the letter B you drew, about ½ inch away. You can start anywhere you want because…well, because we are going to encase the letter in a BUBBLE!! With your pencil down go around the entire letter at about the same distance away as you started. The capital “B” has one straight line and two bumps. Your bubble will be curved around the top, bumps, and bottom edges to make it rounded. Don’t make any square edges.
- Go back and make small “bubbles” inside the two center holes that the letter has, making them rounded to make the letter B shape obvious.
- Repeat this process for the lower case “b”. If, when drawing around the second letter you “run into” the first letter line, just lift your pencil up and skip over that part of the first letter. Put the pencil down again when past the first letter and finish the second letter. This makes it look as if the letters overlap and the second is slightly behind the first.
- Erase the original framework letter you drew as a skeleton. What do you think? Isn’t this fun?
- Add a reflection or highlight on the letter by drawing a circle or square on one side of each letter (see the video). This makes the letter look like light is shining on it and reflecting. Don't color inside this area, leave it white.
- Use a permanent black marker to go over the bubble letter "B"s you drew. Now you can decorate the letter(s) with Colored pencils, crayons, or markers and it won’t smudge. Decorating is optional but makes your lettering so unique and festive!
- Keep practicing your uppercase letter “B” and lowercase letter “b” several times until it is familiar to you. You will eventually get where you don’t need to draw the framework letter if you don’t want to! You won’t believe how many ways and times you can use this lettering style.

Craft Tips for How to Draw Letter B in Bubble Letters
These tips can help make drawing a Bubble Letter B even easier!
- Start drawing with pencil and draw lightly so it is easier to erase as you learn.
- Take the time to draw the regular letter first and space the letters evenly. You'll be much happier with the results.
- Round every corner or bend, don't make sharp corners. It creates a light and balloon like look. Think of what a blow up balloon letter looks like.
- Erase inside guidelines well and outline with marker. This makes the lettering "pop".

Here are a few variations you’re welcome to try with your bubble letters:
- What about decorating the letters with a graffiti look?
- What patterns can you draw and color inside the bubble letter that match your theme?
- Use rainbow colors for decorating the letters. Use one color per letter or a rainbow on each letter.
Bubble Letters for Beginners FAQ
I like a #2 pencil that I use for many purposes. Draw lightly so you can erase easily.
As large as you have room for on the project you are making. It is always easier to read larger lettering, especially on a banner or poster. But this is true even on a handout or comic.
Yes it is. You will be less likely to make errors in the formation of your letters if done in pencil and able to erase and correct them. You can practice and get to where you draw bubble letters in ink or marker. But I don't recommend starting out that way.
