Nana's Quick Guide to a Freewheeling Open-Ended Craft Time

Open Ended Craft Time

Sometimes open ended craft time playing with art and craft supplies with no agenda is a real treat. Creativity can bloom when a grandchild's ideas can come to life with scissors, glue and whatnots!!

Art and Craft Supplies

It's great if there is a drawer or tote at Nana's that is full of art and craft supplies that are for pulling out when the creative juices get flowing.

Gathering a Stash of Goodies

Next time you're out shopping, pop into the craft section of a local store and pick up some stickers, construction paper, pom poms, buttons, glue and glue sticks, tape, children's scissors, pipe cleaners, googley eyes, paper plates, craft foam, markers, colors, color books, yarn, string and whatever else suits your fancy. I just dart through the clearance aisle of the local discount store when shopping and usually find a few of these items to replenish the craft drawer after a serious crafting time has depleted the stash.

Fun Time Creating Treasures

As the grandkids make their creations it is fun to ask them what they are making and to be close by to help if they get frustrated and need a bit of help. Other than that, it is best to let them go to it. You can even make your own creation if it's hard to keep your hands off of theirs! Ha! Go ahead, be a part of the open ended craft time too, we're never too old for scissors and glue.

Artwork Hall of Fame

Of course, there is no better place to display these creations then the front of your refrigerator!! The artwork hall of fame!

No judging. I know I have way too much stuff on my refrigerator!! What can I say?

Enjoy!
