Christmas Napkin Rings
Are you needing the perfect finishing touch to give your Christmas holiday table a special flair? How about making some No-Sew felt Christmas napkin rings?
It would be a delightful way to keep kids and other family and friends busy as they’re waiting for the Christmas meal! This is an easy craft.
Poinsettia Napkin Ring Colors
The only supplies needed are felt and scissors (and my free pattern). No sewing needed, they slip together like magic!
If you want the napkin rings to look like traditional poinsettias, then you will choose the solid colors of red and green felt. If you want them to look like a different type of flower, then you can choose whatever color you’d like plus green.
You could even make the flowers in two tones of a color plus green. The possibilities are endless!
Free Pattern for No-Sew Felt Christmas Napkin Rings
I’ve created a free template for you that has a pattern for a poinsettia as well as a regular flower. That means you could use these for spring or other times of the year too.
Print off the free pattern that I’ve hand drawn just for you for these no sew felt Christmas napkin rings. You can find it at this link: No-Sew Felt Christmas Napkin Rings Free Pattern.
Print off a copy and cut it out. Be sure to use the outside solid lines for the poinsettia flower napkin ring. The dotted lines are for a flower with more rounded petals like a rose.

Cut out the free flower napkin ring pattern
Use that as your pattern and draw around it to make as many of the napkin rings as you will need to set your table.
You may want to cut the pattern out of card stock to make it have a little bit more stability for drawing around.
I would use a ballpoint pen to do the tracing.
You will be cutting one part out of green felt and if you’re making poinsettias, you will be cutting two parts out of red felt.
If you choose to make the flower two tones, you will cut the long piece out of the lighter of your two colors. That will become the ring that goes around the napkin and the center of the flower.
I just purchase felt by the sheet at a local craft store but it can be purchased online as well.
Good scissors are a must
It helps if you have a good pair of scissors to use to cut the felt. Sometimes regular scissors don’t cut felt or fabric very well. That can be so frustrating!
I'm giving you a great Christmas present idea for a crafter by the way- you're welcome!
Cut a center slit in 3 felt pieces-
There are two pieces that have slits in the center. Carefully fold your felt fabric and cut that slit in it after you have cut it out of your felt.
Cut the slit in the bottom piece of petal felt first.
Then lay the second petal piece on top of that and cut the second slit so that the petals of the second top petals piece don’t lie exactly the same direction as the bottom ones.
The petals of the second piece should fall in between the petals of the first piece. So you can see the end of the petals on both pieces. It will look a lot nicer that way.
When you have your pieces cut out, you’ll take one of each of the three pieces and lay them in front of you on the table.
Stack the top petal piece over the lower petal piece so the slits align.
Putting the DIY Christmas Napkin Rings together
Take the long piece and use the knobs at the end of it to slide up and through the two slits in the petals. This will hold the napkin ring together and form the ring for the napkin fits through! An amazing minimalist ring construction- ha!
You just repeat that until you are done with all of your napkin rings.
That’s all there is to it!
Finally, roll up your paper napkins, cloth napkins, or linen napkins in a smaller size than the felt napkin ring and slip it through the ring. The napkin will kind of slide open to fit the size of the ring.
Tip: Check the holiday aisle of your favorite stores for pretty holiday napkins in patterns and colors that match the poinsettia napkin rings.
The Perfect Finishing Touch to your holiday table
These will look nice if you lay them on top of your plates or next to your plates! The perfect Christmas tablescape!
They are a great alternative to wood napkin rings and metal napkin ring s as they add a natural feel. They are keeping napkins in place while providing glamorous accents.
I’m sure hoping that you will attach a picture for me to see what your Christmas table looks like with your no sew felt Christmas napkin rings!
