Mother's Day is such a special day that provides a reminder and an opportunity to reflect on your Mom or mother figure. And then express your appreciation.
Memories of my mom
Dad's words about mom
As I’m thinking about Mother’s Day, I can’t help but think of my mother. My dad used to sit at the table and say to all of us (there were six kids in my family), "What do you think of the mother I picked out for you?" And of course, we would all cheer and tell her how wonderful she was.
I think that was such a perfect way for him to draw attention to what a wonderful person she was. My siblings and I all claim it as a favorite memory from when we were little kids.
Mom's words about being a mom
We would wish her a Happy Mother’s Day and she would always say, "Every day is Mother’s Day!" And I always smiled because it made me think that she thought being a mother was something that made every day a special day, it wasn't just one day a year.
A mom and mother-in-law
My husband‘s mother was also a wonderful person. She was very peppy and full of energy, wanting to be around people all the time. She was known to pop in and out of several events in one day just so she could be with a whole series of people.
Hospitality extraordinaire
One thing both my mother and my husband‘s mother had in common was they were very hospitable. Both seemed to magically pull meals out of the refrigerator and freezer on the drop of a hat.
They would always welcome people into their home. Many of my favorite memories are around the table for a meal, or a dessert, or a coffee time with lots of visiting.
Appreciating your mother
I'm sure that you can think about qualities in your mother or the mother figures in your life that you appreciate as well.
Ponder this for yourself.

The Best Mom Ever
In this coloring page a mother is surrounded by her kids as they enjoy a little tea party. The caption says, "The Best Mom Ever!"
We have had many a tea party at our house and they are enjoyed by both our granddaughters and our grandsons. They do enjoy visiting over tea, but mostly they enjoy eating the treats! 🙂 I just enjoy being with them.

Cheerleading the moms and the dads
I often think of all the young families out there working hard to care for their children and involve them in activities that meet their gifts and talents. Plus they are working hard to teach them what they feel like is necessary for life.
I’m a huge cheerleader for young parents and I’m very grateful for the effort that they invest in their children.
I’ve often heard it said that the days are long, but the years are short. And in my experience, that was certainly true. When our children were small, sometimes the days felt long. But all of a sudden they graduated high school and we’re off on their own.
Enjoy the journey!
I truly believe that children are our futures and that is why I do what I do here at WelcomeToNana’s.com. In my small way I'm wanting to provide something to encourage and uplift families in their quest for creativity.
I love hand drawing coloring pages for you and I’m always open to suggestions for topics or themes. I’m working on holidays right now, so a Father’s Day free coloring page will be coming next.
