Supplies for Chunky Boho Bracelets
Here are a few quick notes about the supplies you will need to make this boho bracelet craft!
- Old bangles – Look through your jewelry box or visit the thrift store to find plain bangles that could use a bit of pizazz.
- Fabric scraps – Lightweight cotton fabrics works the best. Check your craft stash for pretty scrap fabric. Old clothing fabric is a good option too.
- Scissors – Scissors to cut the strips.
- Craft wire – I used thin silver jewelry-making wire.
- Beads – Choose a few favorite beads in different sizes, shapes, and colors. This is where you can really have fun with your Beaded bracelets DIY design.
- Wire cutters – Wire cutters to cut the jewelry wire.
- Glue – Hot glue (and glue gun) or craft glue can be used.

Steps to Make DIY boho bracelets
Ready to get crafting? Here are the basic steps for making your DIY boho bracelets.
the basic boho bracelet
- Prep the fabric. Cut a long, narrow strip of cotton fabric about 1 inch wide. I cut mine from selvage edge to selvage edge of my fabric. That makes the strip about 36-45" wide so it will cover the entire bangle bracelet in one piece.
- Wrap the bangle. Use a small dab of hot glue on the plain bangle and place one end of the fabric into it to secure it. Begin wrapping the fabric tightly around the bangle, overlapping the fabric slightly as you go.
- Secure the fabric. When you have wrapped the entire bracelet overlap the first fabric you wrapped. Add a small dab of Hot glue and wrap the fabric into this glue- let cool. Trim off the extra of the fabric strip. You can leave your boho bracelet like this or add another layer of fun!

fun options
- Option 1- Add wire. Cut a piece of thin silver jewelry-making wire to about 3 feet (36") long. Leave a one inch "tail" of wire, hold the wire to start it and then wrap it around the fabric-covered bangle (like you did the fabric).
- Option 2- Add beads to the wire. Slide a few beads onto the wire before starting to wrap the bracelet. Continue as you did wrapping the wire alone. Place the beads a couple at a time as you wrap it around the bracelet.
- Finish the wire. When you get back to the beginning of the wire, twist the two ends together. Snip the two ends, push them down against the bracelet. Place a dab of Hot glue over the ends to hold them down and keep them from scratching or catching.
Repeat, wear and enjoy! Make a stack of several boho bracelets together for a fun, colorful boho look.
You did it! You created a Fabric Wrapped DIY Boho Bracelet made from a recycled bangle and a few simple craft supplies.

Craft Tips on a bracelet do it yourself
These tips can help making beaded bracelets even easier!
- Fabric choice- A light fabric wraps around the bracelet more smoothly than thick fabric a prevents it from becoming too small.
- Wrap fabric tightly- Start with a dab of glue to keep the fabric in place. Then gently pull on the fabric gently as you wrap so it stays tightly wrapped.
- Tear the fabric. Clip the fabric and tear it into a strip instead of cutting. This adds to the boho look with frayed edges.
- Mix colors and patterns. Have fun combining floral, striped, checked, or solid fabrics.
- Bend the wire carefully. Use jewelry pliers if you have them, especially when making a tight twist at the end.
- Check for sharp wire. Run your finger gently over the finished bracelet and make sure all wire ends are tucked securely away.
- Make a stack! One bracelet is cute, but several coordinating boho bangles worn together can be even more fun.

Craft Variations: homemade bracelets
Here are a few variations you’re welcome to try with this braceletsdiy craft:
- Use different fabrics- I used three different fabrics. But you could use different types of fabrics as well- like denim.
- Use different types of beads and trims- Mix bead types and add other threads, buttons, charms, or trims before wrapping with wire.
- Friendship bracelet gift- Make the bracelets in your friend's favorite colors as a gift.
- Add bling- Dress your bracelets up with some shiny beads, fabric, or trims.
- Wide bangles. Use a wider bangle to create a funky chunky boho bracelet!
- Use materials from your stash- Don't worry about having exactly what I use. Search your stash for buttons, beads, and fabric scraps. Your homemade bracelets with be unique! Be boho creative!

FAQ about boho bangles
I prefer lightweight fabrics that are easy to cut or tear into strips. They wrap easily around the bracelet without adding bulk. You can also experiment with other fabrics you have in your stash.
Yes! Purchase an inexpensive plain bracelet or think of other objects you have that could be made into a bracelet. A twistable foam hair curler comes to mind. It just needs to be the right size, comfortable and strong enough.
Yes and Yes! I would love to get a set that someone has thoughtfully made for me. Choose your fabrics and beads for the one you are giving it to. Wrap a set in a small bag and they will love them!
