Fun Drawing Alert: Easy Soccer Goal Drawing
I’ve never seen such celebration of a game as during the soccer World Cup that’s being held in North America (Canada, Mexico, and the United States). I am just learning about the game and am intrigued by the pressure that the goalie is under as the soccer ball is kicked towards the goal. He will use every ounce of his strength and body to block that ball from going in and scoring a point.
That made me want to add a drawing tutorial to the blog about how to draw a soccer goal. It took a bit of doing to break it down into a step by step tutorial but I’m very excited to show you the process. Your kids will be adding a soccer goal to their drawings right away and will be pleased with the outcome!
The soccer ball tutorial is available too, add one to the soccer goal drawing. And while you’re at it, add a goalie too! Use your favorite teams colors and logo of course.
Even if you don’t get to go to an actual soccer game you can cheer for your favorite team by creating artwork. Oh, and it will sneak in an art lesson and drawing practice- don’t tell! 🙂

Steps to Draw a Soccer Goal
Step 1- Drawing the frame of the soccer goal
Draw the top three sides of a large rectangle on your Drawing paper pr drawing sketchbook (landscape direction). The bottom side of the rectangle is left open. Erase the two corners and draw them rounded.
Draw a second line inside the first three lines of the rounded edge rectangle, only about an eighth of an inch away. This creates the look of a pipe frame for the soccer goal.
Step 2- Create the back of the net
Draw a second rectangle inside the first rectangle and about ½ to ¾ inch away. Start by drawing four dots that mark the corners. Then connect the dots and draw all four sides of this rectangle.
Step 3- Connect the net to the frame
Add four angled lines that connect the corners of the inside rectangle to the corners of the frame.
Darken these lines and the inner rectangle lines by drawing over them a few times.

Step 4- Draw the net lines
Draw lines inside the inner rectangle from left to right that are about ⅛th inch apart. Make them as straight as you can but don’t worry if they are not perfect. A soccer net is aften somewhat irregular looking.
Then draw the vertical lines in the same manner. This is inside the inner rectangle, the back of the goal net as well.
From each of these lines, draw lines that connect from the end of the line to the frame of the goal. Start with the middle line on each side. Then draw the other lines and slightly slant them more as you reach the corners of the net. It helps to look at the picture to see what I mean.
Finish by drawing the vertical lines on each side and the horizontal lines in the top to be the crossing of strings in the soccer net.
Step 5- Add details and background to your drawing
Add in details as you want. Zig-zag grass lines on the bottom and even a soccer ball and goalie if you are ambitious. Do a bit of shading on the soccer net and background if you want to leave it a pencil sketch. Move on to step 6 if you want to color your drawing.

Step 6- Draw over the pencil lines with black marker
Use a permanent black marker to go over the pencil line drawing you’ve made of a soccer goal. This makes the drawing “pop” and keeps water based markers from smudging.
Gently erase any extra pencil marks that still show.
Step 7- Color in your soccer goal drawing
Color in your drawing of a soccer goal as you want. Use Colored pencils, colored markers, or crayons. Keep adding more details as you color.
