Build An Inside Epic Fort

Epic Fort

Looking for a fun idea to do on a cold day with the grandkids before they head back to school? Build an epic fort in the living room!

Many, many years ago my younger brother and I would throw a blanket over a couple of our dad’s old army cots. They made a perfect frame for our fort. We drug so much stuff under there…I can’t believe there was room for us too!

Materials for an Epic Fort

What do you have that can be used as an epic fort framework? Folding tables, cots, chairs, a set of tv trays can all work. Be creative…the kids will have ideas too!

Gather blankets and sheets as well as some medium or large sized binder clips.

Setting Up Your Fort

Set up the framework for your epic fort. The chairs from around the dining room table make great exterior wall props for the sheets and such. Drape the sheets over the chairs and use the binder clips to hold them in place. Some people use cords that run from chair to chair to act as “rafters” to hold up the sheets. Experiment until you find what works.

Setting it all up is the most fun part!

Bring in a couple fleece blankets and pillows to cushion the floor and climb right in!

Who Brought the Snacks?? How About A Movie Night??

Of course there need to be some games and snacks in your epic fort. You can even set it up to be able to see the tv and have a movie night sleepover.

Just in case you're wondering about the little snowman in the picture, the Silly Sock Snowman tutorial can be found here: Silly Sock Snowman

What a wonderful way to spend time with the grands and connect with them before school starts.

Be sure to post a picture of your epic fort! I can’t wait to see your creations.

Enjoy!
