How about a simple Halloween (or anytime) art project with the kids? Halloween Scribble Monster Drawings are a fun “let it all hang out” drawing experience. Don’t be intimidated by the drawing part, every mark is a happy accident.
The idea for this project came from a doodle time with the grands a number of months ago. We were doodling and scribbling and one of the kids remarked that the doodle looked like a monster. Then we all got into it and doodled this paper full of scribble monsters.
I kept the paper as an idea starter for this post. So much fun and so, so easy. All you need is some paper, markers and a bit of imagination!
The Scribble Shape Base
The first step is to draw scribble shapes that will be the base of your Halloween Scribble Monster drawings. There are no rules here. The kids did much better than I did in making a free form scribble.
My grand wanted to do a 5 color scribble monster. So we each chose five colors and then chose which one would be our main color that we would start with for the base shape.
Make a monster out of your scribble.
Now, let your imagination take over. Add other colors and scribble or doodles to the scribble base. Draw some googly eyes, scales, claws, dots, and zig-zags to make the scribble monster come alive with personality.
Using other contrasting colors to scribble over the base shape can give it dimension and fun color. Outlining can give your monster definition- but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
You can’t mess this up.
Just keep adding touches until you feel like your Halloween Scribble Monster Drawings are done and nameable!
The beauty of scribble art is that it can be so very simple, and go so many directions! The best way to start is to pick a color and create a scribbled shape (any will do!). Then let the imagination run wild and color it in, turn it into a funny animal or face, or in this case, turn it into a silly scribbled monster!
By the way, what is your Scribble Monster's name?
This is a simple post with simple pictures this week. Papa is sick and it’s been difficult to get to my crafting. That’s real life though.
Be sure to attach a picture of your scribble monsters, and of course, I want to know their names!
