OK, so I’m a Wildcat* fan and they won their bowl game last night! In the next few weeks, there are lots of games going on, including the Super Bowl! That isn’t counting the many games and other events that go on in our own families all throughout the year.
Personalized foam pennant
You can make your own fun foam pennants to hang in your home, decorate a child’s room or bring with you to the game. SO easy and fun. They are personalized and the kids will love helping make them.
No sewing is needed in making these foam pennants!
Check out this awesome video! Foam Pennant!
Cut the Craft Foam Large Sheets of colored craft foam into triangles the size you desire for your pennants using a Stainless Steel, 12" Metal Ruler to make straight edges. You can use team colors or just choose your favorite colors.
Then, cut and place a ½-inch strip of a white or coordinating color foam on the front short edge. This is just for decoration.
Design your own pennant
Use stick on Craft Foam Letters to write your message. You can write the name of a team, a person’s name, or a fun message or saying.
Cut designs from the foam with Scissors to add to the banner and use a Hot Glue Gun and glue them in place (hearts, stars, team logo picture, etc). There are all kinds of foam stick on shapes (Jungle Animal Foam Stickers or Foam Sports Stickers and Craft Foam Shapes for example) available for purchase too.
Ideas: Adventure (mountain); Name (with a princess crown or a football); Let Your Light Shine (sun); Happy Camper (camper); Smile (happy face); KC Royals (gold crown)
Add two sets of fake ties. These are just two sets of ½- inch wide and about 2 ½-inch-long strips. Hot glue them to the back of the pennant to look like ties.
These can be tacked to the wall as they are or you can add a stick!
How to make a pennant flag on a stick
Turn the pennant over and attach the Dowel Rods to the back short edge by covering the dowel with a 1 ½-inch foam strip along the short edge and hot gluing it down.
Foam pennant bunting
A second display option is to make a foam pennant bunting. Just use a Round Hole Punch to make 2 holes (or 4 if the pennant is larger) in the top edge of each pennant. Then run a string or ribbon through the holes.
This looks best with several pennants on a strand.
Idea: Use a series of smaller pennants with one letter on each to spell a word or name. When strung on Decorative Twine they make a wonderful pennant bunting.
*PS- The Wildcats are from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. Just in case you were wondering.
