Steps to Create the Scavenger Hunt
Let's get started by printing off a copy of the free printable Halloween scavenger hunt on one side only of the paper only.
The directions given make it easy to place the scavenger hunt clues in appropriate places around your home. The step-by-step directions tell the specific locations for where to place the clues cards.
Be sure to follow the directions closely so the hunt doesn't get mixed up (and you don't get mixed up).
The bathtub is the last stop on the hunt. I placed my trick-or-treats in a plastic Jack-O-Lantern and set it in the bathtub. Seeing a smiling pumpkin in my bathtub made me smile.
Keep the first clue in your hand.
Give your kids a bag with a set of washable markers and a pencil and a clipboard.
Take a moment to instruct the kids of any rules or suggestions you may have such as to make sure that you go in a group and take turns.
Hand them the first clue and they will be off and running in the blink of an eye!
Watching this scavenger hunt is easier since the kids need time to solve the puzzles. That will give you time to take a few pictures. Be sure to be at the last stop to see the kids get their treats.

Scavenger Hunt Tips
- Take turns – Have the children take turns completing the clue puzzles. This might keep older children from solving all the puzzles themselves.
- Age level – This scavenger hunt will work best for kids that can read. Adapt the hunt with picture clues if you have younger children playing.

- More than one team – For more than one team in the hunt, make your clues on different colors of paper. Or you could put the clues in a different order for the second team.

You just saved Halloween with this scavenger hunt! My kids were home sick, so instead of trick or treating, they did the scavenger hunt, and it kept them busy and engaged for 2 full hours. And it was so easy for me!! Thank you!!
