It’s one of our families' favorite experiences in the fall.

Leaves have fallen...

One day last week the temperature dipped below freezing. When I drove home from work it was as if every leaf on every hedge tree along our country road had dropped in unison onto the ground.

I drove on a carpet of leaves and marveled at how quickly the trees could become bare for winter.

When the family comes for Thanksgiving I’m hoping that the weather will be warm enough to take a hayrack ride.

Hay Trailer and Tractor

We don’t put up small bales any longer so we purchased a few from a friend and use them for benches on our old hay trailer.

Papa pulls the trailer with his pickup truck for the time being. In the future his dream is to pull the trailer with an old John Deere tractor that we kept off my dad’s farm sale. Getting it running is a great winter project for Papa!

But for now, the pickup works just fine to slowly pull the trailer down the country road for a mile or two on a pleasant fall evening. There's time to visit and catch up on the happenings of the week, laugh and sing silly songs.

These last days of fall will be gone soon. For those of you that live in warmer climates we may come visit you in January when the snow is blowing here!! Ha!
