The grands and I had so much fun making Crispy Rice Christmas Wreath Cookies! This is one of my favorite fast and easy cookies to make for Christmas.

They look so festive and colorful on a plate and are always a hit at holiday parties and get togethers.

I’m telling you, these go together in a snap, a crackle and a pop!!

How to Make Christmas Wreath Cookies

Measure out the rice cereal into a large mixing bowl.

Melt the butter and the marshmallows in a saucepan over medium-low heat on the stove, stirring constantly. If the kids are helping you, take care around the stove - this is a great time to teach them about working with hot items!

Stir in the green food coloring to make a deep green color. You can adjust the coloring based on your preference!

Pour this mixture over the rice cereal in the mixing bowl and stir till the cereal is well covered. Again, take care to protect young grands from the stove and hot marshmallow mixture.

Spray muffin tins with non-stick cooking spray.

Spoon the slightly cooled cereal mixture into the muffin cups to about ½ full.

Now comes the fun! It's time to turn the cookies into wreaths. All you have to do is use the handle of a wooden spoon to make a hole in the center of each cookie.

How to Decorate Wreath Cookies

Since these cute little cookies are already colored green, all that's left to do to turn them into Christmas wreaths is to add the Christmas decorations!

Our favorite additions were red hots, pressed into the wreaths, they looked a bit like holly! Sprinkles were another fun addition, you could try any kind of fun colorful candy as well!

How to Store and Freeze Wreath Cookies

Let set for awhile and then move into a covered container until time to serve. Use waxed paper between layers of cookies to keep them from sticking together.

Of course the grands need to sample one right away (and so do you).

If stored in an air tight container, these cookies will last about 3 days. However, you can freeze them for several weeks. This makes them the perfect make-ahead cookie for holiday parties and visits.

Let the kids help you make a few small cookie plates to bring to the neighbors for a gift of Christmas cheer! What a great way to start the season off!
