Candy Turkey Thanksgiving Table Favors

Published: Nov 14, 2018 · Modified: Sep 10, 2024 by Shelly · This post may contain affiliate links · 3 Comments

Papa’s family often have table favors for the holiday meal. His mother, Grandma Great- or GiGi as the grands call her, often made these candy turkey Thanksgiving table favors. They are a fun way for the grands to be involved in the holiday festivities.

Frosting "Glue"

Place a couple large spoons full of frosting into a quart sized zip lock freezer bag. Clip off a small corner of the bag. This is an easy way to dispense the frosting for this project. The grands love squeezing out frosting!

Turkey Tail

The corn candy tail is the first and most fun part of this project! Squirt frosting along the edge of one chocolate sandwich cookie and gently press the corn candy in to make a fan shape. I used 7 candy corns.

Tip: Don’t press too hard or it pops the cookie open.

Turkey Body Building

This cookie is then attached with frosting to the second chocolate sandwich cookie. I set these against the kitchen counter backsplash to let them set up.

Gigi always used a large, chocolate covered mint for the turkey’s body, but I looked in stores and online and couldn’t find them. So I opted for a miniature peanut butter cup instead.

Shave a small amount off one edge of the miniature peanut butter cup. Use frosting to attach this (flat side to the bottom) to the front edge of the two cookies. This will help to hold the cookies together and forms the body of the turkey. I don’t need to tell you what I did with the part of the peanut butter cup that I shaved off, do I?? 😉

The malt ball is the head and is also held on with frosting. A tip of a corn candy is the beak. And those googly eyes, they made us laugh!

Tip: I found these candy eyes in with the frosting supplies at a local grocery store. I hadn’t ever noticed them before and am glad to have them in my stash!!

A corn candy on each side of the body are the wings and wah-lah, you have a Thanksgiving candy turkey table favor!! Aren’t they cute?

Candy Turkey Thanksgiving Table Favor Variations

I did try several other variations to make them more simple for little grands to make. I tried making them flat on one chocolate sandwich cookie or a mini chocolate donut or other types of cookies. All came out cute. They were easier without having to attach the two cookies and get them to stand up. Use whatever variation you think will work best with your grands and their ability levels.

Let the grands help you set the table and put out their cute candy turkey Thanksgiving table favors. They will be so proud that they helped.

ENJOY!
