Nana's Craft Closet

Supplies to make fabric envelopes. Floral fabric, scissors, Elmers glue, Mod Podge, wax paper and a hanger.

Welcome to Nana's Craft Closet!

This is a list of my favorite crafting supplies that I use over and over again!

You can collect your own craft closet items over time and keep them on a shelf or in a tote that can be pulled out and used when it is craft time.

This supply list will help you fast-track crafting with your budding artists and get to the fun asap!

General Crafting Supplies

  • Scissors - may also need blunt tip scissors for younger kids
  • Hole punch - single hole
  • Stapler
  • Clear craft glue - like Elmer’s Glue
  • Glue sticks
  • Low heat glue gun or a Gorilla dual temp glue gun
  • Mod Podge
  • Clear tape - in a dispenser, like Scotch type
  • Masking tape
  • Printed craft tape - Washi tape
  • Contact paper

Paper Supplies

  • Colored paper
  • Drawing paper or sketchbook
  • Scrapbook paper with pattern
  • Cardstock paper
  • 8x10 canvases - what I prefer, they are about ½” thick or 8x10 flat canvases
  • Watercolor paper
  • Tissue paper in colors
  • Paper plates - uncoated, not the heavy weight types
  • Paper lunch bags - white
  • Coffee filters
  • A2 Envelopes - or make your own

Drawing Supplies

  • Crayons
  • Colored pencils
  • Graphite pencils
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Eraser
  • Colored markers, or more colored markers
  • Permanent fine-point-colored markers
  • Fine point black marker
  • Pastel chalks
  • Sidewalk chalks

Painting Supplies

  • Watercolor paints
  • Acrylic craft paints
  • Paint brushes of various sizes
  • Water container - a jar/glass would work fine as well!
  • Paper towels
  • Mixing tray - optional

3-D Crafting & Decorating Supplies

  • Craft foam
  • Popsicle sticks and Jumbo popsicle sticks - tongue depressor size
  • Jumbo straws - also collect a few regular straws
  • String and yarn
  • Googly eyes
  • Buttons
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Craft pom-poms
  • Stickers, of any type
  • Balloons
  • Wire

Home Items

  • Recycled materials - toilet paper tubes, shoe box, water bottle, jars, tin cans,
    magazines, scrap cardboard like cereal box, milk jugs, paper grocery bags, etc.
  • Nature items - sticks, rocks, leaves, flowers, etc.
  • Food/kitchen items - apple, potato, salt, flour, aluminum foil, etc.

Protective and Organizational Supplies

  • Paint apron or old t-shirt
  • Drop cloth/plastic tablecloth or large mat to protect table
  • Tote for supply storage - choose what fits your storage space
    • Rubbermaid 10 Gal tote with lid or set of 4 - what I use for much of my home
      storage
    • Clear 33 quart totes with lids, Set of 4, stackable
    • Large under bed storage tote with lid
