Hole in One Kid's Backyard Frisbee Golf

Kid's Backyard Frisbee Golf

Looking for a really easy activity to do with the grands? Kid's backyard Frisbee golf is a great outside activity to run off some energy. All it takes is a few containers and a couple Frisbees.

Real Frisbee golf

I’ve never actually played Frisbee golf on a set up course. I’ve seen them in various parks and thought they looked like fun but never think to bring along a frisbee. I have friends that actually get online when they travel and look for courses to play near where they are staying.

Well, I thought, why not set up something in the backyard?

I’ve done this for older kids in my Nutrition and Wellness classes and they got a kick out of it. So I threw a few bushel baskets and a couple Frisbees in the car when our family went on a weekend trip.

9 Hole Kid's Backyard Frisbee Golf

You could have the kids help you make numbers to put on the front of the baskets and have a 9 hole golf course set up in no time! I didn’t get any numbers made as I was inside when Papa helped them set up the course.

We placed the baskets around the yard to make the course. You could try to have a few obstacles (like trees or bushes) for “sand traps”.

The stairs on the deck was the tee for the first hole.

You can keep score with each throw counting as one “stroke”. Grownups can help the little ones throw the Frisbee and count the numbers on the baskets.

We all tried to keep things from getting wild with more than one Frisbee getting thrown. Papa got beaned once in the head by a misdirected Frisbee!

I found a cool soft disc (similar to the one below) that the youngest was using. They can be used inside as well.

Good For All Ages

A real cool thing was that all ages of grands were able to play kids's backyard Frisbee golf together- which is a fun plus for any game or activity!

We were thankful for good weather but it was pretty nippy outside in the evening. I’ll keep this game idea in mind for next summer.

I do have a couple little mini frisbees at home. I may try setting up ice cream buckets in the basement and try Frisbee golf on a mini scale this winter!

Supplies:

  • 9 Baskets, boxes or tubs
  • Construction Paper
  • Markers
  • Frisbees

ENJOY!
