Happy Thanksgiving, friends!!
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful holiday with family and friends. It is a time to count our blessings.
Leftover turkey idea!
Most people will choose to have the traditional turkey for their celebration. Our family will too! Of course, there are usually some leftovers!! What do you do with that leftover turkey? How about making our Thanksgiving Leftovers Turkey Wraps Recipe?
Fast and easy supper fun with the grands
The grands can help you make these up quickly and easily. What an easy supper to have while they are still around. All you need are a few ingredients and a few minutes.
Make up a plate full or put out the makings and let each person make their own. I usually put things out buffet style. That way everyone gets what they want on their own wrap. Do what fits your style best.
What you'll need...
Here’s all you need for your own Thanksgiving Leftovers Turkey Wraps.
Let's build it!
So my good friend tells me that when their family makes tortillas they are served fresh and warm. I hope to have her show me their process one day, but for now the large tortillas we use for our wraps can be warmed in a pan for a short time!! This makes them soft and pliable for our wraps.
Spread-
The first thing to do is to spread the dressing of your choice in a thin layer over the surface of the tortilla (Caesar, Ranch, Dorothy Lynch or other choice). You may have other suggestions for things to try here.
Greens-
A nice spread of greens of your choice can be the first layer over the dressing. Try lettuce or spinach, alfalfa sprouts, avocado, etc in whatever combo floats your boat. Sometimes it is best to start with something simple for the grands and let them add more the next time! I have one grand that is very adventurous in the food arena, but the others are pretty cautious with anything too new (aka weird).
Turkey & bacon- stars of the show!
The wonderful re-warmed turkey pieces leftover from the Thanksgiving turkey are placed on the center seam of the tortilla along with a couple slices of the cooked bacon. Of course this turkey and bacon combo is the star of the show in our Thanksgiving Leftovers Turkey Wrap so you can be a bit generous here!
It's a wrap!
Now comes the fun part! Roll up the tortilla and cut it in half to serve. We slice it with a slightly diagonal cut, it just looks fancier that way!
This wrap plates up nicely and pairs up well with fruit, such as grapes. By the way, a half a wrap may be plenty for the younger grands!
Tip: Bake or fry the bacon up ahead of time so there’s no mess at the last minute. Just re-warm before placing in the wrap.
How about soup?
So fall has gotten me thinking of making soup as well. Here is a link to a wonderful Corn Chowder recipe for another night of your get togethers. It is fantastic paired up with cornbread!
Again, Happy Thanksgiving!!
