Scribble Art fun
Scribble pictures occupied many an hour for me when I was a kid. After I finished what was in my lunchbox, there was still some time to fill before returning to my classroom. What to do? Simple Scribble Art for Kids!
Well, we didn’t call it that back then, but I was priming the pump for this post all those years ago.
Materials Needed for Easy Scribble Art

Step 1: Draw the Swirling loop "d" loops
So, grab one of your little artists and draw a page of overlapping loops and swirls. The loops fill the page and cross over and over one another forming lots of little windows to fill with color. They can be as simple or complex as you would like to make them. This makes it a great activity for young and old alike.

Step 2: Scribble Coloring in the loops
Color in each space with your various colors. Enjoy the pattern that emerges, like a contemporary stained glass window. So many awesome colors.
The beauty of a scribble picture is that it can be drawn in a few seconds but take a long time to color. Oh, and it only takes a pencil, Paper and something with which to color (Crayons, Colored Pencils or Colored Markers). Simple and fun, that’s for sure.

Tips for Simple Scribble Art for Kids
- When the coloring is finished here’s something that can be done to really set it off. Draw over the pencil lines with black. This makes the design look finished. Don’t start with a black crayon especially as it often will smear into the colors you are using to fill in the loops.
- In grade school a friend and I would each create a swirling pencil drawn scribble picture. Then we would swap pictures and color them.
- The big challenge I made was to use each of the 48 colored Crayons in my box over and over again without letting the same color ever touch. I must confess that I was always jealous of the kids that had the 64 Crayons box with a built in sharpener!
Variations on Scribble Artwork
- Cut around the outside edge of the entire design. Then glue it down to a black piece of construction paper. The picture will just “pop” as the colors look so vibrant against the black background.
FAQ on Scribble Art
Scribble art is made by scribbling a loopy geometric like drawing on paper. Then you color in the loops of that drawing with crayon, colored markers, or colored pencils. When finished go over the original drawing with black. Scribble art can be done anywhere and keeps a child (or adult) entertained for a long time. It's very relaxing.
Draw a looped drawing on a piece of paper. Color in the looped areas with different colors in any media you choose. Go over the original line drawing with black. The result is a stained glass looking art piece that is quite simple yet pretty.

Scribbles Art- Perfect time filler anytime, anywhere
But here is the very best thing about Simple Scribble Art for Kids, you can sit by your little artist and color and visit for a long time. Yep, it doesn’t get any better than that.
It is kind of therapeutic. In fact, if the kids can’t be with you, you can still create your own scribble picture and color it in. Who needs to buy a coloring book to relax?
Well folks, that’s all there is to it. Easy-peasy. Pull this idea out whenever you have some time to fill. The kids will love it...YOU will love it.
