A pumpkin apple print- what?
Want to make a simple pumpkin craft for Halloween cards, invitations or treat sacks? Just a few supplies make this Fun Apple Stamping Pumpkin Craft a quick one to pull off with the grands. But although it is quick to make, it is long on fall pumpkin appeal.
Stamping with apples
This pumpkin print with fruit uses an apple for a stamp so grab one from the refrigerator and cut it in half. Use a good knife and cut it as evenly and straight as possible. This makes for a better stamping surface.
To scoop or not to scoop
I tried leaving the seed area in one half of the apple and scooping out the seed area in the other half. I think I like the print from the un-scooped apple half better. How about you?
What do you want to print a pumpkin on this time?
There are a lot of possibilities of things to do your fruit printing art on. I did the fun pumpkin stamping with apples on white sandwich bags so we could use them for Halloween treat bags for the grands. But it would work great to print on white cardstock or black construction paper cut in half and folded to make cards for a Halloween party. It would also be easy to paint on a tote bag that you could use for trick-or-treating! They are very inexpensive at a craft store.
Paint and brushes...
Squirt some paint from each of the three craft paints (orange, green, black) onto a foam plate.
Use the flat brush to spread paint on the cut surface of the apple.
Press the apple stamp down
Press the apple, paint side down, onto your sack (or another project). I had to try this a couple times to get the whole surface of the apple to print evenly. Repeat as many times as you would like, in a straight line or randomly placed over the surface.
Paint a stem and leaves
Use the smaller round brush and green paint to paint a stem and few leaves at the top of the pumpkin. I wasn’t patient and some of my orange paint wasn’t dry, but it worked OK.
Pumpkin faces of every type
Have fun painting various pumpkin faces on the prints. Would you like a happy, laughing, scared, angry, or scary pumpkin? What would their eyes, nose and mouth look like? Paint the features on with the smaller brush and the black paint.
Write a Halloween message- Boo!
Finally, do you want to write a message on your Fun Apple Stamping Pumpkin Craft? I painted my message, “Boo”, in black paint but you can use any color you would like.
Fill the bags with candy
Be sure to let your apple stamping craft dry completely before filling the bag with candy and rolling up the top.
I’ve got some ready for the grands if I get to see them on Halloween!
Didn’t they turn out cute?
More fruit and veggie stamping
So this isn’t the first time we have painted with a fruit or veggie here at Welcome To Nanas!
Remember when we printed with potatoes on Christmas gift bags? Or when we painted a spring tree with Broccoli?
All we need is a summertime fruit print and we'd have one for all four seasons! I’m going to make that happen, maybe a flower printed with a lettuce core or celery! Any other ideas?
