Papa Burgers for July 4th
Let the grands help Papa fix Tender Papa Burgers on the grill for July 4th! They are so simple to make and simple to clean up. Plus, they taste AMAZING! That’s my kind of meal.
So, Papa has been itching to get his two bits in here for some time. He loves making Tender Papa Burgers and is eager to show his “secret” recipe for juicy burgers to the grands.
How Much to Make?
We made the recipe with 1 pound of hamburger. It will make 5 burgers. Just double, triple or quadruple the recipe depending on how many are coming over for supper. Have the kids help count up how many are coming and then multiply the ingredients by 2, 3 or 4! Great practical math skills.
Tender Papa Burgers Secret Ingredients!
Make sure all hands are well washed before starting (as always when cooking). Measure all of the ingredients into a bowl. The Tender Papa Burger secret ingredients are…drum roll…oatmeal and McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning!! Just wait till you try them!
Mix and Mold!
Mix thoroughly- with your hands!
I love these photos of Papa’s hands. They are so big and rough. He has strong but gentle farmer hands!
Mold the meat mixture into 5 burgers. There’s an extra benefit to Papa’s secret ingredient, oatmeal. Oatmeal makes the meat stretch. It also makes the burgers juicy when cooked and when reheated IF there are any left overs.
Tender Papa Burgers on the Grill
One important thing to remember with Tender Papa Burgers is that they are so tender they fall through the spaces on the grill. SO, use a grill pan that will keep the burgers safe and sound!! I give a link to something similar to what we use below. Tender Papa Burgers pan fry really well too.Place the burgers and the grill pan on the grill. Grill the hamburgers for about 8-10 minutes. The internal temperature should be 160 degrees on the inside for medium doneness when using an instant read meat thermometer. Flip carefully and only once as these Papa Burgers are very tender and can break apart more easily.
Make up your burgers as you like to eat them, fill your plate, and let the party begin!
