Instructions

  • Get a cookie sheet ready ahead of time because you will be setting the strawberries out so that they can cool. You do not want them touching so a large baking sheet would work well.
Cover the cookie sheet in parchment paper or wax paper so the fruit is easy to take off and doesn’t stick to the pan.
  • As you put your chocolate into your pan, add some shortening to it.
I added about 1 Tablespoon shortening (Crisco) to 10 to 12 ounces of the white chocolate. This helps make the chocolate nice and smooth as you dip the strawberries into it.
  • I melt chocolate in a double boiler. A double boiler is a saucepan that has a second pan that fits down inside of it.
You put some water in the bottom saucepan and set the second pan on top. Then place the chocolate and Crisco in that top pan on low heat to medium heat.
As the water heats up, it will melt the chocolate without it scorching on the bottom. This is my favorite way of melting chocolate.
  • Now, you're going to make a little assembly line. The kids love doing this too so get them together to help!
Set the melted chocolate on a pot holder in your assembly line along with the sprinkles in a small dish and the cookie sheet. This makes them easy to get to and there will be much less dripped chocolate if they are close together!
  • Gently pick up the strawberries by the green tops and dip each of them about ⅔ of the way into the white chocolate.
Immediately dip the strawberry into your small bowl of sprinkles
Place the strawberry with chocolate and sprinkles onto the cookie sheet.
You will repeat this pattern with each strawberry until you’re done. Be sure to leave a little space between each white chocolate dipped strawberry on the cookie sheet.
  • Your white chocolate dipped strawberries should last up to three days in the refrigerator. Store them in a single layer in an airtight container.
They are always best if made and eaten on the same day.

You can also melt your chocolate in the microwave. You must be careful as you do this.
I would recommend putting it in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds. Then continue heating in 20 second intervals, stirring and checking after each interval. You don’t want to go too long, or the chocolate dries out and can even scorch.

I think that the white chocolate dipped strawberries are so showy! They plate up so nicely and look so festive. What's more, they will be perfect to bring to a special occasion, have for a tea party, or set out for a snack on the 4th of July.
Note: Change the type of sprinkles and you can make this treat fit the need for any occasion.
