Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • Optional variations: 1 teaspoon vanilla and a pinch of salt 1 teaspoon maple extract

Instructions
 

  • Mix the first three ingredients together in a small saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a low simmer, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar and keep it from burning.
  • Let simmer for 3-5 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened slightly, then remove the pan from the heat.
  • If you want to try one of the variations, stir them in now!
  • Let the syrup cool, then use it generously to decorate a giant stack of pancakes or french toast!
  • Keep the leftovers in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
