  • This is the Story of a Plastic Vintage Sewing Box and the treasures it contains. It’s a fun Mothers Day message that everyone will enjoy!
A friend recently gave me her mother’s old sewing box. Opening it was so fun. Come and join me in seeing what was inside. This is a Mother's Day message for everyone!
  • This isn’t a typical Welcome To Nanas craft post/recipe. But when I opened the sewing box I grabbed my camera to include you in this little treasure hunt.
Helen Smith used this Vintage Plastic Sewing Box for years. Her daughter, Kathy, thought perhaps this collector of sewing and craft supplies would enjoy having it. She was right.
  • I have sewing tins, sewing baskets, a small wooden sewing stand, and several glass containers of sewing supplies that belonged to various people.
Every time I open them, I’m reminded of the person that collected the items inside. I like to imagine them sewing and mending and pursuing various hobbies.
Somehow, I feel connected to them across time and distance as I use some of the items in my projects today. A kinship with those that work with their hands.
  • Do you have things tucked away in boxes or baskets that will be treasures for others to find and use?
Are you laughing out loud (or groaning) as you ponder other people having to sort through your crafting, sewing, or art supplies? Me too.
I am trying to organize, use, and whittle down the amount I have. But this blog allows me to justify having well supplied craft shelves. Thank you! Ha!
But seriously, I think it’s important to leave a little trail of supplies that will give others pause to consider what you did with your hands. And the possibility of them examining the importance of learning to work with their hands like you have.
There is a lot we can learn about people by how they invest their time.
May you leave a trail worth following.
  • Blessings on the Mother’s reading this. Happy Mother’s Day.
And blessings on all who join me in working with their hands.
May the world be a better place because we invest in people and bring a bit of beauty to the world.
